Roundness and acute-angled slopes are skillfully combined in aluminum. It seems as if this silver form is stuck to the floor, but it could also be about to rise abruptly out of the floor.

Having begun by studying architecture, Kiyomizu places emphasis on the relationship with architecture in his works. This is particularly so in the series entitled Affinity. Kiyomizu says, “If there is something there, the ideal is that it exists in precise conformity with that environment or situation. They have to blend in with each other. That is affinity.” The forms have to blend in with each other and with their surroundings. That was what became these works called “Affinity.”
